Facelift Procedure
Aging of the face is unavoidable. As the years pass, the skin of the face and neck begins to loosen. Crow’s feet develop at the corners of the eyes and fine forehead lines transform into creases and, ultimately, deeper folds. The jawline softens and jowls develop, with extra chins or vertical folds forming at the front of the neck. There are many factors which contribute to the aging process including heredity, sun exposure, personal habits and the simple pull of gravity. Given the ever increases average age of the population, it’s no wonder that the facelift has become one of the most sought-after procedures performed by Dr. Stein.
The facelift is performed with the goal of improving the overall appearance of the face. Certain factors can influence the surgery, including skin type, basic bone structure, ethnic background, degree of skin elasticity, individual healing and a realistic attitude, all of which will be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Stein. Dr. Stein has successfully performed facelifts on patients in their eighties and even on patients in their late thirties. While a facelift can provide you with a healthier, more energized and youthful appearance, it cannot stop the aging process nor turn back the clock. Dr. Stein combines both his experience and aesthetic sense in order to provide completely natural-looking facelift results without the obvious signs of surgery.
Previous facelift techniques primarily focused on the tightening of skin which often resulted in a stretched or unnatural appearance. Today, however, it has become increasingly clear that the deep tissue layers must be addressed in order to produce a long-lasting and natural result. It is through this sculpting of the deep layers that Dr. Stein is able to avoid the “operated on” look while rejuvenating the patient’s face, jawline and neck.
For the occasional patient with an isolated area of sagging present in the upper cheek or a prominent groove running from the nose to the corner of the mouth, a Midface Lift can be performed, often in combination with an Endoscopic Forehead Lift (Brow Lift). Dr. Stein uses a small telescope and video camera and work through tiny incisions concealed within the hairline, resulting in extremely small scars. It is also possible to work through a small incision beneath the eyelashes. While the facelift can be performed on its own, optimum results may be achieved by combining the procedure with an Endoscopic Forehead Lift, Midface Lift, Blepharoplasty or Skin Resurfacing. Recovery after a facelift generally takes between ten to fourteen days.
