When performing an upper eyelid lift, Dr. Stein places an incision within the natural crease of the eyelid to reposition fat deposits, tighten muscles or remove excess skin. For the lower eyelids, the incision is usually placed inside the lower lid, leaving no visible scar. Occasionally, excess skin or lax muscle requires that Dr. Stein make an incision just beneath the lower lashes. In any case, Dr. Stein has refined his technique to minimize visible scarring.
