As we age, the skin of the eyelids starts to lose elasticity, causing it to droop and wrinkle. A blepharoplasty can help lift the lower and upper eyelids to reverse visible signs of aging. But how long does a blepharoplasty last?
What Is a Blepharoplasty?
A blepharoplasty, otherwise known as an eyelid lift, is a procedure that can remove excess skin in the lower and upper eyelids for a youthful, well-rested appearance.
How Does a Blepharoplasty Work?
Blepharoplasty works by removing excess, saggy skin on the eyelid. Dr. Stein is a double-board certified plastic surgeon that can perform this procedure on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both.
During either an upper or lower eyelid lift, Dr. Stein carefully works with the shape of the eyes, making incisions on the skin’s natural creases. An upper eyelid lift can help drastically reduce the appearance of drooping eyelids that make you seem tired or angry. A lower eyelid lift can minimize eyebags on the under-eyes.
Dr. Stein’s advanced techniques help to ensure his blepharoplasty procedures produce natural, visible results with little downtime or pain.
How Long Does a Blepharoplasty Last?
How long a blepharoplasty lasts can depend on the process of aging. Generally, the results of a blepharoplasty can last 5 to 7 years. The procedure rarely needs to be repeated on the lower lids.
Dr. Stein offers complementary procedures such as laser resurfacing, a brow lift, or facelift that are safe to be performed with a blepharoplasty. He will determine if these procedures are suitable for you during your initial consultation.
Am I a Good Candidate for an Eyelid Lift?
Ideal candidates for upper or lower blepharoplasty are adults who are non-smokers and are in generally good physical as well as mental health. If you’re unhappy with eyelid bags or upper eye drooping, blepharoplasty may be suitable.
Dr. Stein can help you determine your customized treatment for the results you want.
