A weak chin can often cause a less than ideal profile. While there are many ways to improve the appearance of a weak chin, chin facial implants may benefit you. Dr. Adam Stein is a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon with over 26 years of experience enhancing the faces of countless patients.

What Is Chin Augmentation?

Chin augmentation, also known as chin implant surgery, adds volume and definition to the chin with a silicone implant. This surgery can be performed as part of a facelift, but it can also be done as a standalone procedure. A weak chin can look defined and sculpted for a more striking appearance with a chin implant.

What Is Chin Augmentation Like?

Dr. Stein will perform the chin augmentation surgery, which can take up to an hour to complete. During the procedure, you will be under IV sedation or local anesthesia. Dr. Stein makes an incision under the chin and then carefully places the implant in front of the jawbone.

After you wake up from anesthesia, there will be a period of observation to ensure before you go home. You will also need someone to drive you home.

What Is Chin Augmentation Recovery Like?

The recovery time after chin augmentation surgery lasts a couple of weeks. When swelling and bruising after chin augmentation, prescription medication and cold compresses can help minimize any pain you experience.

Dr. Stein will schedule follow-up appointments with you to ensure you are healing well.
