Unfortunately, time stops for no one, and that means every one of us, at some point, will notice the creep of aging on our skin. Not everyone wants to jump right in with a surgical procedure to fight fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, and uneven skin tone and texture. That’s why Stein Plastic Surgery is pleased to offer varying depths of chemical peels to our patients, to stave off age with less invasive intervention.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

The chemical peels of the 90s have now had decades of refinement and perfected techniques to become even more effective today. They work by removing the outer layers of skin where fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, texture irregularities, and dead skin cells dull your complexion. A chemical peel is more than a cleansing experience. They rejuvenate the skin’s repair process and stimulate new skin cell growth, so your face doesn’t just look younger—it is younger.

What are the Benefits of a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels can do several things for the skin:

  • Remove impurities and lighten the dark spots left behind by sun damage and age
  • Repair scar tissue to smooth skin and minimize scars’ prominence
  • Cleanse the skin of sebum to reduce current acne breakouts and prevent new ones
  • Reduce the depth of fine lines and wrinkles by removing the top layer of skin and stimulating new skin cell growth
  • Improve skin’s texture and tone for touchably soft skin and a return of youthful radiance
  • Reverse sun damage and stimulate skin healing.

Chemical peels come in a plethora of strengths and choices to be fairly customizable for patients’ individual needs. Deeper peels, such as phenol peels, require extensive specialized training to perform, and are typically done under IV sedation. Double board-certified physician Dr. Adam Stein has trained extensively with chemical peel experts to stay on the cutting edge of chemical peel therapy for his patients.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Your type of skin does determine which chemical peels would best treat your concerns, so a comprehensive evaluation with Dr. Stein is the best place to start.

Procedure, Recovery, and Results

Dr. Stein performs all the chemical peels at Stein Plastic Surgery to ensure his patients receive the very best in care. Deeper phenol peels are performed on an outpatient basis at our surgical center under heavy sedation.

Patients who choose light to medium peels can expect a 4-7 days of recovery and social downtime that includes mild to moderate flaking and redness. Your most optimal results will peak after a couple of weeks.

Medium peels will have a bit more extensive peeling and redness, and your skin may be tender and mildly swollen. You’ll need 7-10 days of pampering your skin and social downtime, and your skin’s glow will kick in 2-3 weeks after your peel.

Patients going for the deep phenol peel will require 1-2 full weeks of recovery while experiencing significant peeling and redness. It will take up to 2 months for results to shine, but when they do, you’ll be amazed by the radiance and beauty of your skin.

Dr. Stein may also combine a chemical peel with laser resurfacing, and some of our patients add a chemical peel to their facelift or brow lift.

Maximum results so your skin reflects the real you, and not the number of candles on your cake.

Dr. Stein provided excellent outcomes. The resulted look natural and are consistent with what was explained before the surgery. I recommend Dr. Stein to everyone.
