The skin is one of the most essential factors in maintaining a youthful appearance. The skin slowly wrinkles and sags as years of the environment and gravity take their toll. Many treatments offer aesthetic benefits, but laser resurfacing at Stein Plastic Surgery offers a non-surgical rejuvenation at the cellular level.

What is Laser Resurfacing?

Laser resurfacing is a treatment for scarring, wrinkles, and other skin concerns. It stimulates the production of new collagen while improving the tone and texture of your skin. At Stein Plastic Surgery, Dr. Stein specializes in the MicroLaserPeel®.

What Can Laser Resurfacing Treat?

As you live your normal life, you expose your skin to environmental factors such as sunlight and dirt, which result in damaged skin cells. Natural effects of aging also cause a decline in your skin’s health. Laser resurfacing can treat a variety of skin conditions such as:

  • Acne scars
  • Sun damage
  • Wrinkles, especially around the mouth and eyes
  • Age spots
  • Warts
  • Birthmarks

At Stein Plastic Surgery, Dr. Stein customizes your treatment based on your needs.

How Does Laser Resurfacing Work?

The MicroLaserPeel® delivers laser energy at a customizable depth into the epidermis. Removing the outermost layer of damaged skin cells, laser surfacing clears the skin’s surface and rejuvenates the appearance of the skin. The laser energy also stimulates the collagen by heating the deeper layers of skin, encouraging longer-lasting results.

As new skin cells replace damaged skin, conditions such as acne scars fade, becoming less noticeable. Full results appear within six months after the treatment.

Laser Resurfacing Treatment

Laser resurfacing is an outpatient procedure, meaning you will not have to stay overnight. Dr. Stein may apply a topical anesthetic or oral sedation depending on the depth of your treatment. After adjusting the laser to the appropriate depth, Dr. Stein moves the device over your skin as the energy removes damaged skin cells and activates collagen proteins.

Once the appointment is completed, you will only need 3 to 4 days for recovery, earning the name “Weekend Skin Peel.” You may experience mild redness, which is easily covered with makeup. For up to six months, you’ll see continued improvement in your skin. In some cases, the results last for years.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Resurfacing?

Anyone of any age can benefit from laser resurfacing. However, those with fairer skin tend to have more dramatic results. If you suffer from acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, or age spots, laser resurfacing may provide the solution you’ve been looking for.

If you have active acne or are looking to remove stretch marks, laser resurfacing may not be the treatment for you. A consultation with Dr. Stein can confirm whether or not laser resurfacing is right for you.

Dr. Stein provided excellent outcomes. The resulted look natural and are consistent with what was explained before the surgery. I recommend Dr. Stein to everyone.
