The structure of the nose is incredibly detailed and complex. As a result, some people experience poor outcomes from their initial rhinoplasty procedure. Revision rhinoplasty provides another opportunity for patients to achieve the nose they want.

What is Revision Rhinoplasty?

Revision rhinoplasty corrects unsatisfactory results from previous rhinoplasty surgery. Dr. Stein performs an open rhinoplasty to restore your nose to allow for the most access to your tissue. Some patients may require donor cartilage or tissue.

Revision rhinoplasty is more risky and complicated than primary rhinoplasty due to working around previous incisions and scar tissue. Dr. Stein’s extensive experience, training, and board certifications make him more than qualified to perform your revision rhinoplasty. Dr. Stein has helped many patients achieve their goals at Stein Plastic Surgery.

How Much is Revision Rhinoplasty?

The average cost of revision rhinoplasty ranges between $7,500-$15,000. The price depends on office location, the experience of your plastic surgeon, and the length and involvement of your revision. For a more accurate estimate of your costs, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Stein.

What Can Revision Rhinoplasty Treat?

Revision rhinoplasty can correct your nose’s shape or size from a previous nose job. Dr. Stein most commonly improves problems with breathing with revision rhinoplasty. If there is a problem with your nose’s angle or a bump causing respiratory concerns, revision rhinoplasty may help you breathe easily.

During your consultation, please discuss all your concerns and goals with Dr. Stein. Revision rhinoplasty is not performed on children under the age of 18.

What Should I Expect During Revision Rhinoplasty?

You may be asked not to eat or drink anything within 6 hours before your revision rhinoplasty. Dr. Stein uses twilight anesthesia, also known as IV sedation, on an outpatient basis. He makes an incision beneath the tip of your nose and pulls back the tissue to reveal the nose cartilage. After making the necessary adjustments, Dr. Stein stitches the incisions closed.

How Long is Recovery from Revision Rhinoplasty?

Recovery from revision rhinoplasty may be more extensive than your previous procedure due to requiring open surgery. You will experience swelling, bruising, tenderness, or facial numbness that resolves within two to three weeks. Most discomfort is easily managed with over-the-counter medications.

Dr. Stein will apply a stint or cast for a week to protect your nose while it heals. Most patients may return to work after Dr. Stein removes the stint. Complete healing, however, takes 12-18 months.

At Stein Plastic Surgery, we recommend not blowing your nose for the first two weeks and avoiding strenuous activities for three weeks. We also recommend avoiding sun exposure for a minimum of six weeks.

If you have any questions during your recovery, please call our staff during office hours or send an email with your concerns.

Dr. Stein provided excellent outcomes. The resulted look natural and are consistent with what was explained before the surgery. I recommend Dr. Stein to everyone.
